It’s final countdown week for Chappelle’s Block
It’s final countdown week for Chappelle’s Block Party, the movie. Just five days until it’s released in theaters nation-wide! Here’s a photo from the historic day it all went down as ?uesto kicks it with Kanye West and the elusive man behind the action, Mr. Corey Smyth of BlackSmith Entertainment… at least that’s who’s head I think it is. Hit up one of the last live Chappelle Block Party shows before the movie drops, tonight in Philly @ The Tower Theater. Ahh the sordid, debaucherous memories of my first concert ever which happened to be at The Tower. Back row balcony, 14 years old, first boy I knew who had a tattoo, and Lenny Kravitz performing the sickest set I’ve ever seen… you get the picture. But what about your date for Friday night? Flip it into a double-feature and peep 16 Blocks featuring your boy Mos Def after Chappelle.
Sometimes it just feels like the whole world is politically complacent. That’s what I love about Aaron McGruder, never one to shy away from controversy, who tells it like he sees it. If you haven’t already, watch The Return of The King episode and then check the boards where McGruder, once again, has sparked some welcome debate.
One thing I don’t miss about being out on tour is Kmack and Goodtimegirl’s insidious X-Box golf competitions…golf? This is supposed to be hip-hop! Now THIS looks like a must-have for the tour bus…Marc Ecko’s Getting Up graffiti-laced action game with major contributions by Talib Kweli. Get your game on.
Finally, if you’re in or around Philly don’t miss the last Aceyalone and RJD2 show this Tuesday. For more live music check out the new Roots tourdates, just posted, with more to come.
